WE love to see the outcome of the projects we fund and were so pleased to attend the official opening of Heart of England Mencap’s new home of their Pathway Day Service. We supported the refurbishment of Elta House with a grant so that a former office could be transformed into a comfortable and functional day centre. The work took two months to complete and resulted in a large newly-fitted wheelchair-accessible kitchen, an open plan and versatile activity area, an accessible bathroom and a relaxation area.
Pathway provides a day service offering activities for individuals with a learning disability. The service not only provides in-house recreation, but also serves as a base for excursions and trips that customers regularly enjoy. With the opening of the new premises in a central location, Heart of England Mencap hopes to further strengthen its ties to the community, boosting the acceptance and inclusion of those with learning disabilities in the town. We wish them every success in their new home.
